Burn more calories in less time

In order to cut fat, you must burn more calories than you consume. However, many times the calories we burn from exercise just isn’t enough. This is where the after-burn effect comes in.

First, let’s talk about metabolism. For those that don’t know, metabolism is “the chemical processes that occur within a living organism in order to maintain life”. In other words, this is your calorie burning engine. Therefore, the faster your metabolism is, the faster you burn calories. If you’ve ever wondered why your friend eats so much and remains skinny, there you go.

You must be wondering now, “How in the world am I going to speed up my metabolism?” Well, there are actually many ways you can expedite your metabolism. One of the most effective ways is to utilize the after-burn effect, (aka EPOC). The after-burn effect is a period of increased metabolism after exercise (some say, up to 48 hours). This happens because your body continuously burns calories to return it to its normal state. In other words, you can be doing nothing and your body will still be burning huge amounts of calories.

How much of an effect you get directly relates to the intensity of the exercise. If you want to maximize the after-burn effect, you must constantly be surpassing the limit while you exercise, and avoid many rests. This means that you can get amazing results without long workouts!
